The Bluehouse pub opposite Bramley Moore Stadium has applied for an alcohol licence in time for the new season.
The people behind the 450-capacity bar also own the Hot Wok takeaway near Goodison Park and last week shared a first look at the cavernous bar that includes stripped-back brick walls, leather couches and large front windows. The bar also features a Bluehouse logo depicting Prince Rupert’s Tower.
The licence says the bar will serve alcohol until 2am every day apart from Saturdays, when it will be open until 3am. It means Everton fans will have a late night venue to visit after matches if the licence is granted.
The application also includes provisions to live and recorded music performances, boxing and other sport events, and performance of dance.
A second licence application has also been made for the bar formerly named St Domingo’s Bar. The bar at 66 Regent Road will open next to the Bluehouse and the owners announced a name change last month to The Old Lady.
Strangely the licence application is under a third name – The Originals Bar. It hints that a third name change is on the horizon for the bar. The application suggests the bar will open until midnight on games that fall on Sunday to Thursday and 1am for games on Friday night or Saturday night.
It is the latest in a long list of licensing applications for bars in and around Bramley Moore Dock as the new stadium is prepared for the first test event and new Premier League season. The club itself has recently confirmed it plans to open bars within the stadium for an hour after the game via a licence application.
