Everton’s Colin Chong will speak at a major property conference tomorrow (Tuesday 20 May) when he will be speaking about the club’s transformative regeneration of Bramley Moore Dock.
He will speak at The UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF), a major property conference, where Everton will be the focus of two of the three events held in the Liverpool City Region Pavilion.
He will speak at an event called: “Reimagining the River Mersey: The Next Chapter for Liverpool’s Iconic Waterfront” alongside the chief executive of Liverpool City Council and experts from Wirral Waters and BDP.
The talk will cover: “Liverpool’s globally recognised waterfront is entering a bold new era. This panel will explore major regeneration schemes including Kings Dock, Festival Gardens, and Liverpool Waters, alongside the city’s new Waterfront Strategy.”
Everton’s Bramley Moore Stadium is the biggest development to-date in the £5.5bn Liverpool Waters project and last time Chong spoke at a major property conference he revealed Everton owner the Friedkin Group were hoping to buy the adjacent Nelson Dock from owner Peel Ports.

Buying Nelson Dock, which has planning permission for several mixed-use developments including a large hotel, flats, commercial spaces and a floating sports platform in the dock itself, would enable Everton to extend the club’s footprint towards the city and ensure any development there would complement the stunning new stadium at Bramley Moore.
Chong will speak again later in the day alongside a Liverpool FC representative in a talk entitled: “LFC & EFC – The Merseyside Derby of Development” where the club’s respective contributions to the city’s regeneration will be discussed. Everton will be able to point to all three stadiums in the city, Goodison Park’s legacy when left to the women’s team, and the superb work of Everton in the Community, as well as the dockside investment.

The talks come as Liverpool has announced a new ‘Imagine Liverpool’ board of 13 executives who will be tasked with reshaping of the city’s economic landscape including attracting investment.
The board, which was approved by Deputy Prime Minister, Angela Rayner, MP, has been given a brief to act as ambassadors and advisors for Liverpool, with the aim of helping to give confidence to investors, landowners, developers and occupiers in the reshaping of the city’s economic landscape.
In a statement announcing the creation of Imagine Liverpool, it said: “One area of focus will be Liverpool’s iconic waterfront and docks. Capitalising on Everton FC’s arrival at Bramley Moore Dock, and the private sector investment from the Fredkin Group, as well as nearby schemes backed by Tom Morris and Global Port Holdings, Imagine Liverpool will oversee the establishment of the emerging Locally Led Urban Development Corporation for the city’s North Docks to support and accelerate development.”
The news is the latest major development that specifically mentions Everton’s stadium as a catalyst for regeneration in the city. Last year work began on the Central Docks plan, which includes a ‘central park’, housing and a river walk, on one of the docks leading to Everton’s new stadium. It follows Peel Ports submitting planning changes to the entire Liverpool Waters project to recognise the impact of Everton’s stadium and ensure it has a central park in the major renegeration of the area.
