Everton’s next two transfer windows will be drastically different to anything seen before at the club.
The club is recruiting for a data expert who will help to transform recruitment department and it means an end to Everton’s scattergun approach to signing players.
In summer 2025 the Friedkin Group, new owners of Everton appointed Chris Howarth as head of football strategy and analytics and he brought with him Insight Sports, a sport data consultancy that had previously worked with 14 clubs across Europe to bring analytics and insight into transfer and performance teams.
The club is advertising for a data expert to work with the first team. The role will help to analyse the huge reams of data now available to the club under the Insight Sports brand.
The club is looking for “an innovative problem-solver with strong analytical thinking and attention to detail. You will need to be able to grasp relevant footballing problems, formulate the problems mathematically, and find solutions to the problems using suitable analytical and numerical methods.
Candidates, according to the club, will need a degree in a quantitative field and have a strong foundation in statistics alongside hands-on machine-learning experience, with the ability to manipulate real-world data effectively.
It is not the first time in recent months that Everton have advertised for data experts as Howarth builds a team capable of identifying talent that will propel Everton into the European places.
