Everton set for UAE warm weather training camp

Stephen Hurrell, February 24, 2025February 24, 2025

Everton players will travel to UAE for a warm weather training camp after the Brentford game, according to club insider El Bobble.

David Moyes and his squad will take the chance to train in warmer weather thanks to a ten-day break between first team fixtures after the midweek fixture with Brentford as the club is not involved in the FA Cup games next weekend.

Everton’s depleted squad will get a chance to train in warmer weather, which has been credited with helping to boost cardiovascular performance and aid in muscle relaxation and injury recovery. It also gives the chance for the players to bond and relax and is a popular choice with Premier League sides.

Manager David Moyes has often spoken of the value of warm weather training camps and it is no surprise he has taken the option with a short break for Everton after a hectic run of fixtures.

After a warm weather training trip with West Ham in 2018, Moyes spoke of how helpful the break was for his squad. He said: “We’ve come through a really long winter, so I just felt it was the right time to give the players some time away, with some good time together. We trained well in some good weather so, all in all, it went very well.

“We trained hard, the players will tell you they worked hard on the days we had [sessions] and they had a bit of time in the afternoons, so some played golf and some went fishing and some sat at the pool so, all in all, it was good.”

A small break would give Everton’s injury-ravaged squad a chance to welcome back some returning players. Moyes said Illiman Ndiaye’s recovery is going faster than expected and he has responded well to injections, while Nathan Patterson and Youssef Chermiti are both back in training and are nearing a return to full training.

Armando Broja, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dwight McNeil are still a few weeks away from returning for Everton, who have only 14 senior players fit for the trip to Brentford.

A trip to the UAE is a minor bit of Everton news but highlights major change to the regime under the Friedkin Group. Under Farhad Moshiri, cash-strapped Everton rarely ventured abroad and even pre season was limited to one short trip to Ireland and several games against lower league English clubs. It seems the Friedkin Group is happy to allow Everton to operate as a proper Premier League football club once again.
