Everton are expecting a busy end to the transfer window with deals expected up to the 11pm deadline on Friday 30 August.
The club has already signed Asmir Begovic as goalkeeper cover, Jake O’Brien from Lyon, Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa and attacking players Iliman N’Diaye and Jesper Lindstrom from Marseille and Napoli (loan) respectively. However, with gaps in the squad still to fill Everton fans will be hoping for more incomings and some dead wood shifted to complete the 2024/25 squad line up.
A reminder Everton can get one more domestic loan from any club other than Leeds (Harrison is already on loan from them) and up to five more international loans, with no more than three from a single club. Free signings, including Dele Alli, do not have to be registered by Friday evening. Instead the squad registration deadline is in mid-September.
Here is everything we can expect from deadline day based on the rumours so far.
Incomings
Orel Mangala
Mangala has been heavily linked to Everton in a loan deal from Lyon – a club whose owner John Textor was in Liverpool last week as he continues his bid to add Everton to the Eagle Football Group. This one makes sense and the former Forest midfielder, who was signed permanently by Lyon for Β£25m this summer, is one that will probably move.
Alan Myers of Sky says he expected Mangala to sign and both the Mirror and reputable reports by Sacha Tavolieri have confirmed the club is in talks. Personal terms have been agreed but the transfer has hit a late hitch as Fiorentina are now also keen. This one is in the air now and could depend on Fiorentina selling Amrabat – another player linked to Everton. However, Amrabat is attracting interest from Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbache, according to Sky Sports Italia.
DiMarzio has now suggested Mangala has chosen Fiorentina but Paul Joyce says Everton are still in talks with the player.

Ernest Nuamah
Another heavily linked and another endorsed by Alan Myers. This one seems less likely than Mangala but there does seem to be interest in the pacy winger. Lightning quick but very raw, Nuemah is undoubtedly talented but very one-footed. For a muted Β£25m he’s a gamble potentially worth taking though.
L’Equipe says Lyon want to cash in on the 20-year-old and Everton and Forest are interested. Both clubs have done business with Lyon this summer so it seems like this will be down to the payment structure and player’s choice. Fulham are also rumoured to be interested.
There are no rumours that a fee has been agreed or personal terms with the winger so far.
Tom Fellows
The West Brom winger is superb at beating his man and possesses a deadly cross. He’s one for the future but would be a very good signing for Everton. TEAMtalk, which is not a particularly reliable source, says Southampton have had an offer of around Β£10m rejected and Everton are now interested. It’s probably not likely.
Junior Ebimbe
Another player who would be an interesting gamble. Capable of playing as an attacking number eight or a winger, he models his game on Jude Bellingham and has had a good season at Eintracht Frankfurt last year. The France u21 international would be around Β£11m but German expert Florian Plettenburg thinks he’s going to Napoli, unfortunately.
Others
The deal for Wilfried Gnonto is not back on after Leeds sources reported a rejected bid of around Β£23m. There are no sources suggesting Everton will be back in for him. Similarly Kieran Trippier is not likely to leave Newcastle after Eddie Howe said he wants to keep him.
Issa Kabore from Man City has secured a move elsewhere, while Everton-linked Alisson Santana from Brazil was reported as initial enquiries by the club and won’t happen before deadline day.
Broja, from Chelsea, is also unlikely given his injury issues and the lack of bids for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. This may change if a bid does happen for Calvert-Lewin.
Outgoings
Maupay is, thankfully, edging closer to an exit, according to an exclusive from le10sport in France. It looks like a permanent deal to Marseille for around Β£4m is likely and I’m sure the player will be keen to go.

Football Insider have reported Mason Holgate is interesting Valencia. They also published the Holgate to Ajax rumours hours before Ajax signed Rugani from Juventus to cover defensive gaps. So make of this latest story what you will.
The same site thinks Reece Welch is going to Leyton Orient, Reading and Bradford, with all three ‘exclusives’ coming within a week of each other. It’s likely Welch will go on loan but his destination is definitely up in the air.
Finally, no, Branthwaite is not going to Liverpool.
