Fake football kit sites have caused a stir after selling an Everton fourth kit for 2025/26 before the club has even launched one.
The shirt, which like the third kit is black but replaces the blue and yellow patterns with metallic purple badge and sponsor, is believed to be a new launch set to hit the Everton store this year.
The news of a potential fourth kit comes from a legitimate source. Back in August Mark Douglas of the i Paper interviewed Danny Downs, chief commercial officer of Castore, who said: “There are plans – not yet signed off – to launch a fourth kit later in the season as well as what Castore calls “hype” ranges, with bolder, edgier designs.”
We have already seen attempts at ‘hype’ ranges but there have been very little in the way of fourth kit rumours.
That was until a Facebook user who said he had been walking near the Liver Building when he saw Everton modelling a kit that was black with purple highlights.
The user said: “By absolute FLUKE I happened to walk past a secret Everton photo shoot last night by the Liver Building ![]()
“It’s for a brand new 4th kit coming out in January and it’s sooooooo nice.
“I wasn’t allowed to take any pics I’m afraid but I can’t wait to get one
“Sorry didn’t mean for this to look like click bait
The top is black – or very dark navy cos it was dark out – with pink / claret writing and a round neck.”
The story is completely unverified but was picked up by football shirt website FootyHeadlines, which is known for breaking football kit news.
The site confirmed the rumours were just that but did do a mock up based on the social media post. That image has since been taken by sites in Asia who sell fake football shirts and is now being sold as an ‘Everton fourth kit’.
The story of the fourth shirt may be true and Everton may be launching a second kit that is exactly the same colour as their third kit. That seems unusual and there would need to be some sort of story around why the club was launching the new shirt for the season.
There are other things that do not quite stack up. The potential fourth kit was described by Downs back in August as featuring “surprising color accents” signaling a bold departure from the club’s traditional color palette. Given Everton have had a large number of black kits and regularly use pink and purple on away shirts this does not seem to hold up.
The kit is also described as influencing Everton’s design philosophy moving forward, which is difficult for single colour shirt with no noticeable patterns.
We’ll leave it up to you to decide if this mystery kit will actually be released this month.
