Everton have been linked with a move for Brian Madjo, the 16-year-old striker who has already broken in to the Metz first team in France’s top division.
Madjo, who has been capped four times for Luxembourg, has played four games for Metz in Ligue One and has now been linked with a move to Everton.
X user TalentIDHub, which describes itself as ‘scouting consultancy services’ says Everton are keeping an eye on Madjo after impressive performances for England’s u17 team. Despite his appearances for Luxembourg, Madjo was born in London and qualifies to switch to England if he wishes.
Madjo scored the opening goal for England u17s in a 5-3 defeat to Sweden last week in a game where Everton centre half Reuben Gokah started and midfielder Malik Olayiwola won a penalty for England.
A physically imposing striker with an eye for goal, Madjo came through the youth ranks in his native Luxembourg before signing his first pro deal with Metz last summer.
The move would make sense. Everton have previously signed strikers with first team appearances at young ages. Then 16-year-old Braiden Graham moved to Everton after appearing and scoring for Linfield’s first team in Northern Ireland, while u18s striker Cieran Loney had already made his debut for Partick Thistle before he joined Everton’s youth setup last year.
Madjo at 6ft 2 offers an athletic, pacey option and could be a smart move for Everton to bulk out their u21 side in future.
