Everton fans are getting used to visits to the world class Hill Dickinson Stadium and many will have already chosen their favourite pubs, bars and food venues.
If you are still finding your bearings around the new stadium you may want to check out a new destination with a nice historical link to the new stadium.
Just 10 minutes walk from the stadium and a few minutes from popular venues such as Ten Streets Social and Murphy’s Distillery are the last remnants of the ‘Docker’s Umbrella’, the old overhead railway that ran from the city centre along the entire length of the Liverpool docks – including Everton’s historic Bramley Moore Dock.
While the tracks are now long gone some of the beautiful railway arches that supported it and gave their name to the Docker’s Umbrella remain. The name refers to the fact they provided cover for dock workers when Liverpool’s wet weather hit.
The archways are already home to Love Lane Wine Bar, an attractive venue that offers £3 pint deals before and after games and promises the cheapest prices on premium beers and wine in the area.
The bar opened a couple of months ago and has leaned in heavily to match day traffic with bench seating and drinks offers for fans.
It will soon be joined by a pop-up Italian-themed cocktail bar and restaurant called Chin-Zano, which has applied for an alcohol licence and plans to open in late November or early December in the row of archways.
Chin-Zano is the brainchild of award-winning chef Livia Alarcon and will be a more upmarket matchday venue for fans who want a drink but also restaurant-quality small plates, house-made pasta and pizzas.
Livia says: “Chin-Zano is about bringing energy back into the city’s dining scene – a place to eat beautifully, drink boldly, and feel like you’ve discovered a piece of Italy on Love Lane.”
