If you are visiting Everton’s stunning new stadium for a match, a concert or another sporting event then you may want a drink before or after.
Luckily for you we have taken this very seriously and over the course of the last few months we have visited many of the bars and pubs that line the streets from Liverpool city centre all the way to the stadium.
There are a few routes you can take. If you are getting a Merseyrail train to Sandhills Station there are a couple of options between the station and the stadium. There are more between the city centre and the stadium if you walk the 25-minute route of Regent Road, while other options can be found directly outside the ground.
We have rounded up the best bars near Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium and done a quick review of each for you to choose from.
Outside the ground
The Bramley Moore Pub
The Bramley Moore Pub is the original pub in the area and was established long before the stadium existed. It is located directly outside the stadium and is the most traditional pub.
It is relatively small so arrive early if you want to enter. It has a small outside area and two bar spaces. Prices are affordable but space is limited. Expect good Guinness, a selection of beers and pale ales on tap, as well as the usual pub selection of cider, wines and shorts.
Does not serve food.
Find it on a map here.
The Bluehouse
Huge four-floor warehouse style ‘Bierkeller’ bar and home of the Everton Heritage Society on match days. The Bluehouse is one of the biggest bars directly opposite the ground and has plenty of bench seating and big screens to watch sport. Beers are also well priced with pints available under £4 for the cheaper stuff, and £5.40 for the likes of Cruzcampo.
Decked out with memorabilia and usually boasting a DJ, the Bluehouse is a lively pre- and post-event pub with more of a fan park feel compared to traditional pubs. Find it by spotting the historic ‘David Rollo’ sig at the top of the warehouse towards the north east corner of the stadium.
Hot Wok, the famous Goodison Park food establishment, has an area in Bluehouse that allows you to get excellent Chinese food. The pub also hosts guests including Homebaked, the frankly brilliant pies that were on sale near Goodison Park.

The Terrace
The Terrace is two-storey bar with a stunning view of the stadium on the terrace area. It is located next to the Bluehouse and The Originals bar to form a lively ‘hub’ of match day bars at the north east corner of the stadium.
The Terrace can get busy before and after events and has a DJ for a more lively experience. There is a small amount of seating and prices are standard for near-stadium venues.
Expect lots of TVs to watch sport but the venue does not serve food.

The Originals
Not yet open. When it does it will complete a trio of bars at the north east corner of the stadium.
The Fan Plaza
Large area within the historic dock walls with food and drinks vendors, as well as stages with entertainment and music pre- and post-event.
Prices are stadium prices (around £5-£6 a pint) with the cheapest option being Budweiser, which sponsors the Plaza. There are other options including Corona, Camden, Guinness and San Miguel, as well as wine and soft drinks.
Food is sold via several stalls including loaded fries, burgers and seasonal options depending on the vendors. Food can be expensive (£8-£12) but queues are usually small. There are also programme sellers in the Fan Plaza.
Be aware there are limited covered areas in poor weather. The Fan Plaza is usually restricted to ticket holders only.
From Sandhills Station
Sandhills Cafe
Small cafe directly opposite Sandhills Station known for its full English breakfasts. Now has an alcohol license for match days. A very small venue so it is usually quite busy, but good for a quick stop off at the station.
Royal Crest
A hotel that has had a major refurbishment to its bar area on the ground floor. It is on Regent Road to the north of the ground and is on the way if you are walking from Sandhills. The last bar before you get to the Terrace, Bluehouse and Originals on that route.
It is a bit quieter than the others so if you are after somewhere where you can have a chat without loud music this is an option north of the ground.
Always busy, the Crest has live screens and can be useful for a stop between the ground and the station in bad weather. Not a large place but a good selection of lagers, ciders and wine are on offer.

From Liverpool City Centre
Meraki
A converted warehouse, Meraki is rough and ready but on a sunny day the outdoor yard is superb.
Situated down a side street a short walk from the stadium, Meriki has indoor and outdoor bars, plenty of TV screens and while it plays music, it is a bit more relaxed than some of the other venues.
Perfect for good weather, there is also an inside section with some seating.

Murphy’s Distillery
Murphy’s Distillery is an Evertonian-owned distillery next door to Ten Streets Social, creating a nice hub of warehouse-style bars for fans walking between the city centre and the stadium.
Drinks are well priced at around £5.50 a pint and it is a good size warehouse-style venue with two large bars to help with serving speed. It does have DJs on and can get busy but it is one of the better venues for large groups of fans pre- and post-match, with big screens for those who are not attending the stadium.
There is a small outdoor area and the venue does do food occassionally such as BBQ. Check the social accounts for event-specific food options. You can also try gin and vodka created in house.

Ten Streets Social
Ten Streets Social is a big warehouse venue with a ‘fan park’ in the back complete with bench seating, a huge screen and lots of Everton flags. It is one of the most popular venues for fans visiting the new stadium and one you should check out if you like a friendly atmosphere and big screens.
It is surprisingly well priced with a pint costing about £5.50 and some good options on tap. Despite its vast size it does get busy but never feels too packed out.
Ten Streets Social is one of the best venues to pop into if you are walking between the city centre and the stadium. It has large bar areas so it is never difficult to be served. There are affordble food deals such as pint and a pie deals before the game.

Fliers
Set back a little from Regent Road, it is easy to miss Fliers. A virtual golf venue, it switches to a match day hub on event days and it is a hidden gem if you want somewhere a bit more relaxed. There is plenty of seating, a large bar and the giant virtual golf screens double as TVs to allow you to watch sport.
There is a very small bench area for outdoor seating and drink prices are reasonable.

In Liverpool city centre
The Denbigh
If you are getting off the train at Lime Street or Moorfields and want a drink in town head to The Denbigh Castle on the edge of the business district. Situated down a side street, the pub is a hidden gem that will be packed with fans for football games and other events at the new stadium.
Owned by Evertonians, the pub has a superb drink selection including IPAs, lager, bitter and an excellent Guinness. It maintains the charm of an old-school Liverpool pub and is usually busy with an electric atmosphere. Fans often spill out into the side street, giving the whole thing a festival feel.

The Lock Up
Not far from Moorfields Station and Liverpool’s famous Matthew Street, the Lock Up is an Everton-themed bar in the city centre with some nice design touches based on the club.
Affordable drinks, big TV screens and a location on the right side of the city to make the stadium walkable, it is a good option for those who want a drink in town before an event.
The Cross Keys
Huge old-style bar with TVs and standard drink options tucked away near Old Hall Street and the newer office blocks in the centre, the Cross Keys is a popular after-work drinking location.
It is also one of the closest city centre pubs to the new ground. Its large size and walkable distance make it a good option for those seeking a bar in town before the event.
