Everton confirm Goodison Park final game after party in new licence application

Stephen Hurrell, April 6, 2025

Everton will allow fans to stay in the stadium for 90 minutes after the final home game of the season against Southampton.

The club has applied for a one-off licence to serve alcohol for an hour and a half after the club’s final game at the stadium and if approved, it would suggest the club is hoping to hold an event for fans in the stadium.

The application is to modify the existing Goodison Park alcohol licence for the final game of the 2025 season. It asks: “To provide non-standard timings for the sale of alcohol on the premises from the concourse bars (including EBars) for the final home game of 2025 ONLY for a period of 90 minutes after that end of the game (but no later than 23:00)”

The application also includes provision for music and film to be played at the stadium, which could pave the way for an event to send off Goodison Park.

The date of the final home game of the season against Southampton has not been confirmed and Sky has missed its own deadline of Friday 4 April to announce the final television games of the season.

However, the application suggests the game will take place on a Saturday or a Sunday given a 90 minute extension would mean fans are in the ground until past 11.30pm on a weekday evening. The application says drinks will be served no later than 11pm and fans will remain in the ground no later than 11.15pm in the event of an evening kick off.

The final home game will not be the final chance for fans to attend Goodison Park. The club has also applied for a licence to hold events at Goodison Park between 19 May and 2 June 2025. The licence also seeks approval for the sale of alcohol, playing of live music, film and dance performances.

The Farewell to Goodison Park events hold a license to run all day events at the stadium in a final goodbye to one of English football’s most historic venues.
