Everton confirm it will open bars after matches to keep fans in the stadium

Stephen Hurrell, June 17, 2025

Everton will sell alcohol at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Bramley Moore Dock for an hour after the final whistle at select South and East Stand bars, it has confirmed.

The club has amended its licence application, which has already been approved by Liverpool City Council, to change the venue to Hill Dickinson Stadium and the small print suggests the club plans to open some bars for fans for up to an hour after the game finishes.

The application says: “Generally the concourse bars will close at half time and not re-open save that in the case of the concessions identified at Level 2 in the South Stand as 02-536, 02-534, 02-539, 02-760, 02-761 and 02-757and Level 3 in the East Stand as 03-500 alcohol may be sold for a period of 1 hour following the designated sporting event.”

Fans who do not want to stay in the stadium will be able to buy alcohol in the Fan Plaza. The club has permission to sell alcohol and hold events in the Plaza up to 11pm.

Everton will have to apply for separate licences for the Plaza for each match day in conjunction with the City Council and Police, with all applications made 21 days before the match day.

Interestingly, the club has also amended the application to cover consecutive game days, which means the club is considering hosting other sporting events alongside Everton’s Premier League matches.

The move may help to alleviate transport concerns around the stadium. However fans will not be short of options when it comes to post-match drinking options with several new pubs set to open around the stadium. They include the row of bars including The Terrace, Blue House and Old Lady to the north east of the stadium and the Bramley Moore Pub near the entrance to the Fan Plaza.

Let’s hope that 21 day advance application for outdoor drinking in the Fan Plaza doesn’t get messed up with $ky and co messing round with TV fixtures although I presume the same separate licence process will have applied for the fan zone at Goodison.
